Silver beaded "kumihimo" necklace
available now, 12/31/2020
This beaded kumihimo necklace is made using jet full azuro blue flat pear teardrop glass beads, crystal labrador full silver round glass seed beads, and silver twisted nylon cord, with a silver-plated hook and eye clasp.
Kumihimo is a method of weaving multiple cords together (for this necklace, it is 8 cords) where beads can be added into the weave (in this necklace, the artist used flat pear teardrop beads and round seed beads).
The necklace is 19 inches long. All of the jewelry items are made using high quality materials. Information about the beads: The crystal labrador full silver seed beads are a shiny metallic silver color. They are BeadSmith Unions brand and they unite the design of Japanese Miyuki brand seed beads with Czech glass finishes and coatings. The flat pear teardrop glass beads are black and blue in color and they are made in the Czech Republic.
The high-quality silver gives the necklace an elegance, which is enhanced by the teardrop beads that change in color from black to blue as the angle of light changes.
About the artist
Rachel Eglash is a student with a hobby of creating jewelry, and is from Palo Alto, California. She enjoys using different techniques in her jewelry, from creating chainmaille jewelry out of jump rings to exploring other types of jewelry-making like kumihimo (creating woven beaded cords made into bracelets) and bead weaving (using different stitches to turn beads and thread into an intricate pattern of beads). She also likes to experiment with incorporating different metals and different types of beads, crystals, and pearls into her jewelry. She especially loves custom orders where she can help the client to design the perfect piece of jewelry for themselves or as a gift for someone else. Her jewelry can be purchased at www.archcreativejewelry.etsy.com and found on her website at www.archcreativejewelry.com .
